From Jan van Aken's book 'De Afvallige' (2013) we tell about the not so bad emperor Julianus (361-363). There's a statue of him in Tongeren.

Again and again we take note of the abuse of Mac Beth's name, this time of Gruoch, Lady Mac Beth: 
The Vlaamse Opera brings a play from Dimitri Sjostakovitsj, who apparently did not know better.   Our distant cousin Ludwig van Beethoven did!

Liberation day for Ekeren (1944)

Fiona told us the story of Joseph Merrick, the Elephant Man (1862-1890), who even had a bad time in Belgium: Brussels, Ostend, and Antwerp.
And an article about when our ancestors were near extinction, around 100.000 years ago. A mere 2000 survived some really bad times and from then went on to populate the Earth.
